Let me tell you, seven straight days of rain is not fun at all. Your clothes, jacket, socks, shoes, etc are always wet, and you feel like you haven’t been dry in a week. At night, the rain pummels the roof of the cottage I am staying in, and just when I think it can’t rain any harder or any longer, it does. But as loud and as frustrating as the pitter-patter on my roof is, I can only imagine what it’s like for those living in shacks in the townships just miles away. The rain must be that much louder falling on their tin roofs, and they don’t have the security of a leak-free roof. It sure is strange living comfortably so close to such squalor.
